ABSTRACT 

Internet is the first source of information for tourists. Internet is widely used to locate destinations, plan travel destinations, hotel bookings etc. Internet offers a cost effective medium and also provides interactivity. There are several resources on the web which can be accessed freely without any cost. The open educational resources like – e-journals, e-books, e-thesis & dissertations are of immense use to those pursuing studies in tourism and allied courses. This paper discusses the tourism education in India. The paper focuses on the multifarious advantages offered by Internet and lists out some of the open access resources on tourism that are available on the Internet. ABSTRACT 

In the emerging Information and knowledge society, Information Science Education has witnessed tremendous challenges. The rapid advancements in the Internet and Web technologies have opened up new communication channels promoting more active interaction between the teaching and learning communities. E-learning practices are slowly gaining prominence in India. In this fast changing environment, it is necessary to review the present efforts of Teaching and Learning practices and processes of the LIS departments. This paper presents an overview of the state of the art LIS Education in India, discusses the problems and opportunities of distance learners, with special reference to Dr.BRAOU and outlines the experiences of 2010-2011 batch MLIS students of BRAOU from the student’s perspective. The objectives of the present study are to: Discuss the Characteristics of Distance Learning in India: Present an overview of LIS education in BRAOU Discuss the problems of BRAOU learners Examine the Impact of WWW for Teaching and Learning of LIS through distance

The expected outcome of this article is to enable the System Planners, System Analysts,Managers, Technologists and Librarians to identify the advantages and disadvantages of cloud-based solutions for their libraries. This article explains in detail about the Concept of Cloud Computing and the areas where we can use the Cloud Computing in the Library and Information Centres. The services, deployment models and strategies, the method of deployment, service delivery are explained here. This article strives to represent to promote the current progress and future trends of cloud computing and its impact on Libraries and Information Centres by providing a reference for further research.

Semantic Web and the Libraries: An Overview

 This paper discusses about the concept of semantic web, the technology, web content writing, and necessity for the development of web 3.0. The various components of semantic web technology such as HTTP, URI, RDF, XML, Ontology, W3C and other components specified as W3C standards are touched upon briefly.
